Obituary, The Northern Star, November 24th 1890. "Death of Mr Chapman, of Heighington. Many of our readers will learn, with regret, of the death of James Chapman, second clerk in the Darlington manager's office of the North Eastern Railway, who resided at Heighington. Mr Chapman was for many years hon.sec. of the Heighington Flower Show, which owed a great deal of it's success to his management. He was of a genial temperament and was much esteemed by a large circle of aquaintances. His death occured somewhat sudenly on friday night, of quinsey." Chapman, James (I275)
